After a long – 25 years – filming, Edit Kőszegi, with a very rich raw material and a lot of experiences in her pocket, made her documentary about the painter Mara Oláh (OMARA) in 2025.
“I met Mara 25 years ago. I was immediately captivated by her magical personality, style, thinking, freedom, non-negotiable nature, and her amazingly original creations, which she called doodles. We immediately organized exhibitions for her, including in cinemas, such as the Kultiplex… and of course we started filming with her right then… Every shoot with her was indescribable. When she first welcomed us as a guest in her Városföld bakterháza – yes, she lived in the bakterháza – she zigzagged from one room to another between the walls wallpapered with photos, constantly telling and illustrating her stories, we felt dizzy, we thought “this is the end”. But in Szarvasgedé, in the “luxurious kulipintyo”, where she built a swimming pool with her own hands in the middle of the wooden house, we could only follow the same thing with our camera on a half-meter wide path. And she didn’t stop, the action always ran out first.”
