For entries to the 46th Hungarian Film Week

Effective from: 9 November 2026

This privacy notice applies to the processing of personal data provided when entering the 46th Hungarian Film Week, held from 1 to 7 February 2027, to data processing related to compiling and running the programme of the Film Week, and to the data transfer carried out within the framework of the cooperation with the Magyar Klipszemle (Hungarian Music Video Festival).

The Controller processes personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (hereinafter: GDPR) and the applicable Hungarian legislation.

Hereinafter: the Controller.

II. Scope of the data processed

In the course of entries to the Hungarian Film Week, the Controller processes in particular the following data:

• the title, genre, length and other professional details of the entered work;
• the name of the production company or production organisation;
• the names of the producer, director, screenwriter, cinematographer, editor, composer, production designer, costume designer, sound engineer, lead actors and other contributors;
• the name, postal address, e-mail address and telephone number of the entrant and the contact person;
• the date of entry and administrative data related to the entry procedure;
• further information provided on the entry form that is necessary for screening the film and running the Film Week.

The title, length and other professional details of a film do not in themselves necessarily qualify as personal data, but may be processed as personal data when linked to a natural person.

The Controller processes only the personal data necessary to achieve the purposes of processing.

III. Purpose and legal basis of processing

1. Managing the entry procedure

The purpose of processing is to receive, register, check and assess entries, to compile the competition programme and to keep in contact with entrants.

Where the entrant is a natural person and the entry creates a contractual relationship, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, i.e. the performance of a contract.

For the creative and contact data provided by other persons, and for the data of representatives of legal entities, the legal basis is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

The legitimate interest of the Controller is to organise the Film Week, to identify and professionally assess the entered works, and to keep in contact with the contributors.

2. Publishing the programme of the Film Week

The purpose of processing is to prepare and publish the printed and online programme and catalogue of the Film Week, as well as the professional documentation of the event.

Publication may cover the titles and professional details of the films, and the names and professional roles of their creators and contributors.

The private contact details of contact persons are not made public.

The legal basis for processing is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

The legitimate interest of the Controller is the public presentation of the programme of the Film Week, the proper identification of the films and their creators, and the professional and cultural documentation of the event.

3. Communication and event organisation

The purpose of processing is to keep in contact with entrants, creators and contributors, and to organise screenings, professional discussions and other programmes.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR, depending on the data subject and the circumstances of the processing.

4. Data transfer to the Magyar Klipszemle

The transfer of data relating to works entered directly into the Music Video category serves the implementation of the cooperation between the Hungarian Film Week and the Magyar Klipszemle.

The legal basis for the data transfer is legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, provided that the Controller has assessed in advance the necessity of the transfer and its impact on the rights of data subjects, and that, based on this balancing of interests, the processing can be carried out lawfully.

The detailed rules of the data transfer are set out in Section VII.

IV. Conditions of data provision and information

Providing the data marked as mandatory in the entry procedure is a condition for accepting and assessing the entry.

Without these data, the Controller may not be able to accept or process the entry.

The entrant must provide true and accurate data on the entry form.

Where the entrant also provides the data of other natural persons, the entrant must inform them of where this privacy notice can be accessed.

For personal data not obtained directly from the data subjects, the Controller ensures that data subjects are informed in accordance with Article 14 GDPR, taking into account the conditions and exceptions set out therein.

V. Duration of processing

The Controller retains personal data for as long as necessary to achieve the purpose of processing.

As a general rule, personal data related to the entry procedure and the running of the Film Week are retained for a maximum of five years after the close of the 46th Hungarian Film Week on 7 February 2027, where justified by the purpose of processing or by the handling of any legal claims.

Data used solely for operational communication that are no longer needed after the close of the event are deleted by the Controller earlier.

Film and creator data included in the public catalogue and professional documentation of the Film Week may be retained for longer in order to document the history of the Film Week and to ensure professional publicity, as long as the legal basis and necessity of processing continue to exist.

Data subjects may request the erasure or restriction of processing of their personal data in accordance with the GDPR.

The right to erasure is not unlimited: in cases specified by law, the Controller may be entitled or obliged to retain certain data.

VI. Persons with access to the data

Entry data may be accessed only by authorised staff of the Controller and by persons involved in organising the Film Week who are bound by an appropriate obligation of confidentiality, to the extent necessary to perform their tasks.

Members of the pre-selection juries and juries may also access the data necessary for the professional assessment of the entered works.

The professional details and creative credits intended for publication of films selected for the programme may appear in the public catalogue and on the programme platforms of the Film Week.

VII. Data transfer to the Magyar Klipszemle

The Hungarian Film Week cooperates with the Magyar Klipszemle.

Within the framework of this cooperation, the Hungarian Film Week forwards the entry data of works entered directly into its Music Video category to the organiser of the next Magyar Klipszemle.

The purpose of the data transfer is to allow the entered works to take part in the entry procedure of the Magyar Klipszemle as well.

The data transfer covers the following data, insofar as they are included on the entry form and are necessary for the entry procedure of the Klipszemle:

• the title and professional details of the entered music video;
• the names and professional roles of the creators and contributors;
• the details of the producer or production organisation;
• the name of the entrant or the designated contact person, and the contact details necessary for managing the entry;
• other information related to the entry that is reasonably necessary.

The Controller transfers personal data only to the extent necessary for the purpose of the transfer.

Recipient of the data: the controller organising the Magyar Klipszemle.

The organiser of the Magyar Klipszemle processes the personal data transferred to it as an independent controller, on the basis of its own privacy notice and the applicable legislation.

Entrants are informed of the data transfer in advance, during the entry procedure.

Data subjects have the right to object to the data transfer based on legitimate interest under the conditions set out in Article 21 GDPR.

Entry to the Magyar Klipszemle, its entry fee and the conditions of participation are governed by the Magyar Klipszemle’s own regulations.

The competition programmes and awards of the two events are independent of each other.

VIII. Processors and other recipients

The Controller may use processors to operate the entry system, to store data, for communication and to run the event.

Processors may act only on the documented instructions of the Controller, with appropriate data security safeguards.

The Controller applies contractual terms with processors in accordance with Article 28 GDPR.

The Controller provides data subjects with information on the processors and on any transfers to third countries in accordance with the requirements of the GDPR.

IX. Rights of data subjects

Under the conditions set out in the GDPR, data subjects have the right:

• to request information about the processing of their personal data;
• to request access to their personal data;
• to request the rectification of inaccurate data;
• to request the erasure of their personal data;
• to request the restriction of processing;
• to object to processing based on legitimate interest;
• to exercise their right to data portability in the cases specified by law;
• where processing is based on consent, to withdraw their consent at any time.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

Requests relating to the exercise of data subjects’ rights may be sent to iroda@mfszemle.hu or info@tellum.hu.

The Controller responds to requests without undue delay and in any event within one month of receipt.

Where the conditions set out in the GDPR are met, this deadline may be extended by a further two months, of which the Controller informs the data subject within the first month.

X. Legal remedies

If data subjects consider that the processing of their personal data infringes the applicable data protection legislation, they may lodge a complaint with the Hungarian National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Data subjects also have the right to go to court if they consider that their rights have been infringed in the course of the processing of their personal data.

Under the GDPR, data subjects may, under the conditions set out by law, also bring proceedings before the regional court competent for their place of residence or stay.

XI. Data security

The Controller applies appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of personal data.

Their purpose is in particular:

• to prevent unauthorised access;
• to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the data;
• to prevent accidental loss, alteration or destruction of the data;
• to appropriately restrict access to the processing;
• to handle any personal data breaches.

The Controller adapts its data security measures to the nature and risks of the processing.

XII. Automated decision-making

Works entered for the Film Week are selected for the competition programme on the basis of decisions by professional pre-selection juries.

In the entry procedure, the Controller does not use decision-making based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning the data subject or similarly significantly affects them, within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

XIII. Amendments to this notice

The Controller is entitled to amend this notice in line with the applicable legislation and changes in its data processing practice.

The Controller publishes the amended notice on the official website of the Hungarian Film Week.

Where an amendment affects the purpose of processing or another essential circumstance, the Controller informs data subjects in accordance with the requirements of the GDPR.
