War and war, dream and reality, images and sounds of presence and absence condensed into a dream sequence that is as real as it is true, and as true as it is real. Drums beat on the distant hills, but where are the soldiers? Who is Little Hand, what does he write, who writes, who washes, and how long can all this be washed?
(The inspiration for the film was the collection “The Legend of Four Palóc Villages” from 1985, which is in the collection of the Hungarian Ethnographic Museum.)
