"Új dalt énekelek Neked" - Fischer Iván portré
documentary film | 71 minutes
Iván Fischer is a defining personality of the classical music life of our time. Countless outstanding professional recognitions, awards and the worldwide fame, professional importance and recognition of the Budapest Festival Orchestra founded by him and Zoltán Kocsis prove that he is an exceptional genius of contemporary art. In the film, we get an idea of his life path, his professional and human creed, in the honest confession he makes in front of our camera about his family, roots, musical and artistic. about his ideals. With a parallel editing, we can hear Fischer: in his intimate, personal environment, and at the domestic premiere of perhaps his most personal composition in the beautifully restored Rumbach Street synagogue. The text of the work “The German-Yiddish Cantata” (Goethe, Rilke, Sutzkever, Yiddish folk song) and the related musical multi-layeredness naturally reflect Fischer’s thoughts, cultural openness, and exemplary European outlook. We hope that by conveying the personality of Iván Fischer, we can convincingly demonstrate to the viewers that this exceptional artist served the universal and Hungarian culture throughout his career. We feel it is our basic duty to introduce the outstanding creator of our domestic cultural life: Iván Fischer.
