1986. Communist Poland. Unknown individuals break into the Gniezno Cathedral and steal the life-sized silver relic holder statue of St. Adalbert, the founder of Polish Christianity. The investigation is entrusted to the inexperienced detective Andrzej Baran, whose wife is an internationally renowned art historian. The young detective is aware that two years after the politically charged murder of the anti-communist Father Jerzy Popiełuszko, the public mood is tense due to another anti-church crime. As the investigation begins with great ambition, doubts arise in Andrzej: is it possible that the theft of the statue is part of an internal political game?
