Kaláka: A Kárpátoktól a Karib-tengerig
documentary film | 96 min.
Four members of a band go on a trip to a city they’ve been singing about for decades, but they’ve never been there. In Cartagena, Colombia, for the first time in their lives, they will sing Sándor Kányádi’s love poem for the city, entitled Románc. The Kaláka ensemble, which has been making music for 55 years, has its poems set to music by the third generation. “Kaláka” means the same thing to Hungarians everywhere, wherever they live in the world: linguistic and cultural community, togetherness through poems and songs – from the Carpathians to the Caribbean Sea.
