Jelena arcai

Scientific, Educational and Portrait Film | 19 min

The main character of the story is a 35-45 year old woman buried in grave 13, excavated at Balatonkeresztúr, who was named Jelena by the researchers after the name days associated with the day of the excavation and the letter of her maternal line. The small copper hair or cap ornament found next to the head of the woman, who was buried four thousand years ago in the Early Bronze Age, suggests that she may have had a higher social status within the community living in the settlement. The film presents the archaeological and genetic studies based on the remains and the realization of the facial reconstruction. It is a sad fact that the researcher who performed the facial reconstruction, Ágnes Kustár, passed away after completing the work, so the work created using archive footage also commemorates her.
