Budapest Silo
short documentary film | 25 minutes
The main character of the film is József, who has been working in Budapest’s largest grain silo, which is still in operation today, for more than 30 years. His residence is next to the structure, in a container house, and trucks and trains are constantly pulling past his window. Almost like a diver, he descends into the ten-story-deep silos every day to clean them out. This work is not without danger, especially because for years grain dust has been constantly entering his body, which in the long term also endangers his life. Yet he cannot escape from here; has become an integral part of its environment.
