As a teenager, he fried fried meat in a resort on the Tisza River; today, Michelin-starred chef Szilárd Tóth is among the world’s 100 best. Raised in the rugged landscape of Szatmár, he is a stubborn and honest man, and thinks outside the box, so the stifling hierarchy and expensive ingredients typical of fine dining are unknown in his restaurant. He collects, ages, pickles and experiments in the forest to create the perfect plate again and again, a bite-sized piece of the memories of his childhood in Szatmár.
