Egy magyar jezsuita Amazóniában

Scientific, Educational and Portrait Film | 53 min

The Amazon basin, or Amazonia, carved by smaller and larger rivers, still hides many secrets today, which only the most determined scientists undertake to research. Even among our compatriots, only a few know that the Hungarian Jesuit monks who served here in the 18th century played a pioneering role in the geographical exploration of Amazonia and other parts of South America. Among them, Xavér Ferenc Éder stood out, whose work “A Short Description of the Missions of the Province of the Society of Jesus Popularly Called Moxos” is one of the most important sources for researchers dealing with the ethnography and geography of the continent.
