Kék Pelikan
animated film | 79 min.
In 1988, everyone in Hungary could apply for a world passport, the borders were opened, the possibility of travel was freed up, but the train and bus were very expensive. What’s the point of freedom if you can’t live with it? The three good friends who yearn for the West, Ákos, Laci and Petya, discover that MÁV tickets are filled out by hand, using blue Pelikan indigo – in an apartment in a downtown Budapest apartment building, chemical experiments begin so that they can go on holiday with fake train tickets… László Csáki first his full-length animated film, The Blue Pelikan, is a real nostalgia trip, with lots of humor and so contemporary with the help of music, it recalls real events, such as Induljon a banzaj! from Bonanza Banzai, Lidocain from Hiperkarma or the Húsrágó bridgehead from Kispál and Borz.
