János Hanzlik, an Olympic weightlifter, became a successful sportsman following the example of his father. His father, who was famous for his terrible strength in and around Oroszlány, had a turbulent life. His struggles for freedom and independence give the peculiar essence of the twentieth century. After his legendary bear wrestling, he was tormented by the war and the Russian prisoner of war, and then by the Soviet-style dictatorship established in Hungary. With his love of freedom and humanity, he set an example not only for his children, who loved him to the point of admiration, but also for the inhabitants of the small village.
